What would you like to talk about?

Hi all,

I am getting a Jadelle implant on friday and wanted to know of anyone else who has got one and how it went. Do you notice it in your arm?
Thanks :)

Worst Contraception ever. I would never recommend this to anyone. I had nearly every side effect you could think of including weird kicks as if I was pregnant. Its so awful!!

I had Jadelle put in around 7 months ago and i went from being 67kg to 91.6kg which is disgusting. I feel sick almost everyday after eating. Jadelle has also played with my moods and made me really upset often and leaving me having no motivation to go out and do anything. I hate this form of contraception and can not wait to be removed next week.

Hi there! I don't have babies but I do have the Jadelle implant. Got it at the end of March 2012 after being on Noriday for around 6 months, though I was warned many get the implant removed because of side effects. The insertion was fine and didn't hurt, but for about a week after my arm was very bruised and was very painful. But as this healed, the scar is tiny and the rods pretty much can't be seen.

No bleeding at all really for me, but I have noticed a change in my mood. I wouldn't say it's a depressed state, but very touchy, moody, angry at times and feeling unhappy and unmotivated. Am sure I have put on weight also.

Not 100% sure if it is the implant, but I'm fairy certain it is so I'm getting it taken out next week and will probably be put back on Noriday! I can't take the combined pill, and I'm not sure what my other options are...

Jadelle has been effective with preventing pregnancy, and my nurse told me that there is pretty much no chance that you'd ever get pregnant with the implant, but the side effects outweigh the benefits for me.

i've had mine for over a year now but am considering removing it. i had three to four months of spotting when it was first put in, then regular periods until december last year. i haven't had my period all year up til two weeks ago. i stuck out all the irregularities of bleeding, have found it harder to keep weight off, those things didn't bother me too much. i have been partial to feeling down through my teenage years and even a little after my children. now, with this implant, i am finding myself upset and crying, i wouldn't say describe it as a depression, but very sad. my mood keeps me home and from doing things i'd normally do. and my kids have noticed it the last few times. i'm having down spells more frequently almost once every week and hope that taking the implant out will solve that.

the side effects of the implant are different for different bodies. you won't really know yours til you try.

Just googled the implant as I have had mine for 4 months and have had a heavy period every 2 weeks!! Im 36 and this is the first time Ive bleed so heavily (through my bedding and clothes). IM over it and have put on 10Kg - husband noticed that my appetite has increased heaps and also have headaches which isnt a typical probelm of mine so I will go back to the pill which will also help with my increase in achne. STuff being a woman aye!!   xx thanks for all the replys

I had the Implanon inserted ( not subd in nz ) and that lasted for 3 years i did bleed for 6months straight and then it stopped until i had it taken out and that was a 3 year thing, I'm planning to get the jadelle inserted iswell the only thing that concerns me is that lasts for 5 years and yeah i guess you can have it taken out but what a waste!!

momof2 where does your friend live?  I'm in Hamilton and had one put in by family planning and they'll take it out whenever you want - just call them to make a time.  I've had mine for just over a year and keep hoping the bleeding will settle but it hasn't so I might get mine out soon too.  I sometimes bleed for weeks on end and it's just not worth it for me.  Interesting what you said about your friend getting pins and needles because i've been getting that in my feet and only just now (after reading your post) am wondering if it's the jadelle?

As crap as it has been for me, my workmate got one implanted the same time as I did and hasn't had any bleeding at all the lucky tart!  So it does depend on the individual - unfortunately it's not working for me :(  sounded so good  in theory too *sigh*
