Question from a ttc'r. If you have been on Depo Provera in the past, and have now had children... how long did it take before you got pregnant? How long before your AF's got back to normal? Did you have any problems after Depo? Did you take anything to get back to normal or get pregnant?
TIA, my last injection was in August, and now I'm having confusing spotting and I'm not sure if it's coming or going most of the time.

Sure would, I had a great guy do it in Taupo, $40 each time, it took 2 times to change, then once it was regular I had a third visit to make sure my body kept it regular, think of any other complaints and get them sorted at the same time, headaches, sprained ankles, heart burn, back pain any thing! it resets your body to heal itself. All you do is lie on a bed fully clothed for 1/2 an hour and they do tiny movements over diffferent parts of you with waiting times in between each. My neice had it done for her periods first. I still go back every 2 or so months if I get back pain and cramp in my calf muscles from my aerobics. Works a treat! which is odd for what small movements they do. :)

leeanne: would you recommend bowen therapy instead of acupuncture?

thanks everyone, keep the stories coming.
my mum got pregnant the first time without even BD'ing so I'm hoping I'm as fertile as she is. and hoping its a good sign that AF might have come back after 2 1/2 months. i'm also taking Vitex to try and speed things up. A BFP before the end of the year would be great though.

I have been on Depo for 3 years before trying for our first child, it took 15 months to conceive. Then almost 3 years again of depo and it took another 15 months to conceive our 2nd child (pregnant at the moment) The 2nd time around I was more concerned as a didnt have regular periods, they were every 12 days after 9 months of waiting to become pregnant and so I went and had bowen therapy to regulate them, they went to 26 days. I had blood tests before this and I was ovulating but only on the 2nd period so it was worth the bowen therapy been done to balance the hormones out again. After 2 regular periods we become pregnant. YEAH :)

I was only on the depo for a year and it took a year to get my AF back at all.

I had been on the depo for about 6 years. (From when I was 19)
I stopped it, not for ttc reasons, but because I had not had any AF's or anything in that time and I wanted to start to get my body back to some kind of cycle...
It took a long time for me to get anything (Even spotting) I would estimate 6-9 months and then I had another long time before I would consider myself to have a cycle, with regular and decent 'Flow' of af (Like enough to use a tampon) I would estimate that to have taken 18 months from my last Jab.
Obviously everyones bodies will have a different lengths of time of getting sorted and getting all the chemicals out of your system. I am sure you will find some ladies that got back to a cycle alot quicker than I did. I am not sure if I was ov'ing over that time or not.
Personally I won't go back on the depo again.
I had something else (Called implanon) in for about 18 months. I had it removed and concieved 2 cycles after that.

It took me about 8 or 9 months to be anywhere near regular after depo and 1 yr to get pregnant, but we lost that baby and another until 18 months after coming off depo we had a viable pregnancy...I had never had fertility issues before but cant say it WAS the depo for sure....
