I have just found out I am pregnant and now I need to try and find a midwife! Can anybody recommend a midwife near Paeroa? I would like to birth in Hamilton at Waterford or the Hospital if necessary. Thanks!

Ann Ward was my backup midwife, I thought she was very good. I only had her for the labour though.

My (independent) midwife works out of Waterford, Sarah Power, she's very cool :)

There is a wonderful Midwife in the Waihi area whom I think does Paeroa as well her name is Jan Burton, she does births at Hamilton. She also has a list of all the other midwives in the area. Her Ph number is 07 863 5556. Good luck :)

Thanks for the info. I called Waterford and they were very helpful which was great! Unfortunately I haven't heard many good things about the midwives around here either. Makes it very difficult to make a decision especially since I'm not very far along and trying to keep it quiet.

Hiya, you could try and give Waterford a call and they have a list of midwives in your area, or midwives that will service your area. Im in Morrinsville and have a midwife from Hamilton (i cant recomend her to you because she isnt taking on anymore clients), im birthing at Waikato and transferring to Waterford after. You may have more luck getting a really good midwife in hamilton if you dont mind travelling there for appointments. I havnt heard many good things about the ones in our area Mov/te aroha/paeroa etc.

*Charley I mean.
I had DS while I was living in Thames. I won't recommend my midwife as I never really felt comfortable around her...However her backup was great!! I will find my pregnancy notes book so I can tell you her name. Also quite a few of my antenatal friends used Sue van dam. They found her to be very good. I myself wouldn't choose her though after what happened to little Charlie.
