Hey everyone, I had a scan when I thought i was 7.5 weeks but no heartbeat and no fetal pole.. just yolk sac and gestational sac measuring and consistent with a 5.5 week pregnancy. I had blood tests and my HCG was 8000+ (this was all a week and a half ago). Had another test last friday and its come up 45,000+. Id sort of convinced myself the preg was non viable as have had a missed misscarriage before.. but now it kind of looks like its all good. Im confused.. anyone know if HCG can rise this much if pregnancy never developed properly? I have normal symptoms too: sick/tired/sore etc but also have had some cramps.. im not in chch at the moment so cant get a scan for couple of weeks and is driving me insane

thanks alicat!! so stoked :) i found out that once they see a heartbeat on scan then risk of miscarriage goes down significantly (3-4% chance as opposed to 20%) so am feeling really positive now :)

I think if I remember rightly only about 2000. From about 17k to 19k. Then only about 200 the next time. How did scan go???

the other thing too was all this testing and carry on took nearly 2 weeks and was incredibly stressful. My heart goes out to you going through this on top of the earthquake. Big loves xx

I had 2x negative pregnancy tests, followed by two really faint positives followed by a negative. My first blood test showed 400 which was about 2 weeks behind where I should have been, then 2 days later I had another blood test which was over 1600. A week or so later I had a scan and was 5 weeks 6 days and you could just make out a tiny wee embryo with a beating heart. By dates I should have been 8 weeks, but by the scan it would appear I conceived 4 weeks after my period rather than two. I have pretty irregular periods so that is likely. Anyway I am now 28 weeks pregnant and all is well. The baby got off to a slow start but is roaring now. All good. My Mum said I was the same so maybe it's a girl! (I already have two boys and their pregnancy tests were BAM PREGNANT instantly so who knows?). So I really hope you are like me. You really need another scan to put your mind at rest. Nothing like seeing that little beating heart. I wish you all the best xxxx
