What’s on your mind?
I have just had my gallbladder out and I'm feeling rather trashed.
I know there's a few ladies on here that have had theirs out and I'm wondering how long it takes to get back to normal? How long before I can lift normally and also if there are any long term side affects anyone had or if you went back to normal food no problem afterwards..?

i had mine out in June.. after a week i was looking after my 5 month old daughter fulltime again by myself.. (i shouldnt have been!! it caused alot of pain!!and made healing take longer) all up i think it was about 3-4 weeks before i was back to normal.. after about 2 months i could eat everything again! i would just get major tummy aches if i ate anything too fatty! and i also get heartburn/reflux alot more often now! nothing quikeze or mylanta cant fix!

I had mine out just over a year ago, probably took about a week at the most to be able to move like i had before surgery but may not have been completely pain free for a couple more days after that. I struggle with eating high fat foods, they make me feel really yuck and will also upset my tummy. I cant remember if Alcohol affected me differently, ive never been good at handling my alcohol so dont drink much but im 8 months pregnant so havnt had any for a long time so cant really remember anyway.
Hope you have a speedy recovery :-)

hi i healed quickly and was up and doing exerise about 2 days after. i eat anything and can drink alochol etc....i would say that it took me a few months to get where i could just live normally as i got gastritis from bile etc..and had an attack after taking codiene which causes a biliary spasm.........however saying that 2 years later i am feeling fantastic, can eat fatty food etc, no pain etc

OK, thanks for that warning, I am dairy free at the moment anyway and not having alcohol due to BF.

It was at least 3 weeks till i was mostly pain free, was lifting from about then too -no chocie, 3 under 4 at the time.
I can eat most things again but still stay away from fatty food because it makes me feel yuck, and and can occasionally bring on an attack. Be careful with alcohol. I'd have a very balnd diet to start with and then just introduce stuff a bit a time to see what might react. The first 4 months I'd be heading straight to the toilet if I had full fat dairy products etc-not cutie, cutie!
