If you are thinking about getting pregnant, or are already trying but nothing’s happened yet, there’s a few things you can do to get your body in prime baby-making condition.
1. Watch your weight
Being overweight or underweight can interfere with the body’s balance of hormones and can even stop ovulation altogether.
2. The importance of diet
Eat healthily, preferably organic. Ensure you’re getting all the important nutrients. Vitamins A, C and E, zinc and selenium, plus dandelion tea and garlic can help you to detoxify and eliminate heavy metals and chemicals from your body. Zinc and selenium are also vital for men to produce healthy sperm.
3. Take folic acid
Women planning a pregnancy should definitely take folic acid. It’s important for the formation of a child's central nervous system and reduces the risk of your baby being born with spina bifida or with a low birth weight. Start three months before you begin trying.
4. Get some exercise
Two hours a week or half an hour per day is good.
5. Smoking, alcohol and drugs – just say no
And lower your intake of coffee.
6. Reduce chemicals, toxins and radiation
Male sperm counts have reduced by 50 per cent in the last 50 years because of our exposure to chemicals and toxins.
7. Stress – release the pressure
Are you working too much, or juggling too many things? Slow down, it will help.
