I was recently reading a forum where someone mentioned they were prescribed bentyl for a colicy baby. I am visiting my GP for the 3rd time on Friday as my DD has been so hard to settle and I decided to Google Bentyl to see what this does as I was going to ask my GP for this and I read this
"Antispasmodics, such as dicyclomine hydrochloride (for example, Bentyl) and hyoscyamine sulfate (for example, Levsin). These have serious side effects. For example, Bentyl can cause a baby to stop breathing, have seizures, or even to die suddenly. It is no longer approved for use in the United States in babies younger than 6 months of age."
I don't know about other mothers but his freaked me out enough to not ask for it. I would rather a crying baby then risk these effects and being that it is proven studies I thought other mothers who may consider using this (like I was) may want to know this.
