Maternity pads

What would you like to talk about?

Pretty much the only thing left on my list of things to grab when they are on special/other groceries are cheap. Had a look and all I could find was Libra with wings & aloe, and Stayfree with neither. I like wings, but can't stand aloe.

However, I did find that according to the diagram thing on the pack, Stayfree overnights apparently have the same absorbancy as their maternity ones, with the wings, and cheaper for the same size pack.

Has anyone gone for non "maternity" pads? Are super heavy/overnight ones pretty much the same? I am planning to keep any I get at the hospital as I've been told they are better than the ones you can buy.

I also used the adult incontinence underwear (adult diapers lol) for the first few days after giving birth and they worked a treat! 1 pack is plenty. I just used the maternity pads at the hospital in conjunction with the incontinence pads (diapers) to limit any messes on my undergarments and clothes so to speak. Was a tip I picked up at antenatal classe.

I like the Tena Lady pads (the incont ones) for the 1st week or so - I bleed heavy and long.  But nothing beats a NB nap (H brand) for the first day or two complete with body shape :D

But Definitely agree with the 2 at time policy to start with, the hospital ones are nice and padded with helps with the tenderness I found.  But everyone is different and some people don't like the surf board feeling.

Strange that some people say the hospital ones are great and some say they're useless, maybe different hospitals have different ones?

Thanks for the tips, I will definately go for the overnights instead of the maternity, budget sounds great but i need the wings, any time I've used pads without they end up not sticking properly & moving around as I walk.

I think libra has been phasing in the aloe, it used to be none had it, then you could get both, but now it seems like pretty much all their products have it. I was told to avoid scented pads by my MW as they can cause irritation.

Budget super pads - cheap and great.

Trick I learnt was to stick two together on top of one another to make them longer or more absorbent from one of the nurses. Also stole as many hospital ones as I could get my hands on.

Stay away from wings etc - they go all origami on your a$$ and stick to everything but what they're supposed to and the last thing you want after a birth on that area.

Have a pack of care free ones I haven't even touched yet. And am down to panty liners and still have two hospital ones left and most of a whole pack of budget. And have given away two packs of hospital ones too.

I hated the ones at the hospital! SO many leaks it was ridiculous! I'd go for overnight ones over maternity if they're cheaper or more to your preference. I'm sure they'll do the same job!

I used the libra ones but they didn't have aloe. I only used one pack and then switched to libra goodnights. I think the only difference with maternity ones is that they are longer?

I used - Libra Goodnights Pads Maternity & Night 10pk (do they have aloe?). I always use these at night when I have my period and I used them after my babies too.

I tried the stayfree ones without wings and I liked that were thick, it was comforting but I prefer wings too. I don't think I had any leaks through.
