"I remember my eldest going through a similar phase i found if i made a game of it she was keen to go use the toilet eg lets waddle to the toilet like a penguin or hop like a kangaroo. This meant that she had some choice in the end result of getting to the toilet i also kept toys/ books that can only be played with or read if she sat on the toilet. Toys that i found that worked well were ones that my girl did not normally play with eg a whistle although i even resorted to letting her use my cell phone on locked mode or an i pod to listen to music. If he really isnt keen i would take the pressure off for a few weeks then try again when hes ready"

I just read your story about your child and his toilet training. I have a 2 and a half year old and he has no interest in the toilet or potty. I work as an early childhood teacher and work with toddlers. I see the struggle alot of parents have with getting their child interested in toilet training. Some of our three year olds are going to preschool still bot toilet trained. Don't panic as your child will let you know when he's ready. We have sticker charts at daycare and these have been a great incentive for the children. Another idea we are looking at is a step stool so the children can get on the toilet by themself. Just another way for their independance to grow. We also have bright pictures of wild animals on the wall to brighten up the area. Just keep asking and he may surprise you one day. I just keep asking mine if he wants to go on the toilet but at the moment I get a stern "no". Perserverence may pay off one day. Best of luck."
With Pearl, I was better prepared for the work involved with breastfeeding. Mainly because I had finished breastfeeding Joseph only two months before she was born. Joseph and Pearl are just two years apart, so my big challenge was weaning Joseph.
I love the way my one year old waddles. that's all

"I agree, you need all of these things. I have also learnt to keep cool, calm and collected which is amazing for me as I myself am an inpatient person and volitile. I have come to realise that I don't want my boys to be like that and have changed myself and its working a treat! I feel so much more in control, happy and positive about my parenting skills."

"I have no idea if my daughter is gifted, but she sure suprises me!
My D is 2yrs 6m, she has a HUGE vocab of words.
Walked at 15months
She remembers things from months ago, even if it was only bought up once.
She knows her alphabet and counts to 14
Shes not reading yet, but she says some rather weird things
for example the other day i was reversing out the drive way and my
2 D's were in the back and my 2yr old goes
"thank you mummy, thank you for giving me my sister Anahera"
i have no idea where these things come from but gosh it was so cute."
