Merino at every age
Why is merino such a great clothing choice for all ages?
The merino sheep is one of the oldest sheep in the world, and one of the toughest. They are built to survive blistering hot summers and freezing cold winters, and a lot of this is down to the abilities of their fleece. This climate adapting material means the fleece is exceptionally warm, but is also breathable. The renewable quality makes it a top choice for not only dressing your toddler, but for adults, too.
We teamed up with clothing brand Mokopuna Merino to take a look at their top clothing picks for your little one as they grow.
Newborn (0-3 months)
The Mokopuna Merino Swaddle Cocoono swaddle bag takes the guess work out of swaddling. The clever, simple design ensures a snug fit without any fuss or instructions, unlike other swaddling garments on the market. We love them because one layer of soft merino fabric reduces the risk of overheating and the natural stretch and ability of merino stimulates the feeling of being in the mother's womb. How wonderful.
Practical, comfortable and super cosy - with easy nappy change access - every newborn baby needs at least one of these merino sleepsuits. Temperature regulating merino technology means your baby will keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The sleepsuit will also prevent claminess and overheating.
Every little head needs a Mokopuna Merino beanie. Made out of 100% merino wool, it's the perfect gift for a baby shower or a newborn. It also has a high ultraviolet protection factor (UPF).
The merino booties are perfect for keeping teeny toes warm. They're an essential newborn item and a thoughtful baby shower gift.

The lovely, soft merino fabric means there's no need to layer with cotton underneath - Natasha
The classic single is made from 100% pure merino wool. An essential piece of baby clothing for summer that doubles as an underlayer for extra warmth year-round.

Long sleeve tee
The long sleeve tee comes in a range of super cute colours, pattern and print; it features a crew neck and curved hemline to suit both boys and girls. Temperature regulating, merino technology, allows for comfortable wear from winter through to summer.
The generous length, stitch detailing and cosy hood make the Mokopuna Merino hoodie practical, comfortable and cute. It can be worn on its own or layered with other Mokopuna Merino garments!
The slouch pant has a slight drop crotch and features knee pad and pocket detailing. It's the ultimate combination of comfort and style for your little one.
Snuggly, spacious and versatile, Mokopuna Merino's Cocoono is great for use in bed, buggy or car. The merino fibre both breathes and insulates, keeping baby's temperature constant and preventing overheating. Studies have also found that sleeping babies in merino lowers their rate of activity and provides a deeper, more restful sleep. A well rested baby is a happy baby, which also makes for well rested and happy parents.
