These colourful party treats are fun to look at, delicious to eat and simple to prepare.

Sprinkled Marshmallows

marshmallows with sprinkles

  • 1 x 180g packet marshmallows
  • ½ cup dark, white or milk chocolate melts
  • Assorted toppings such as sprinkles, Pebbles and 100s and 1000s

Melt the chocolate in bowls in the microwave or over hot water as per instructions on the packet. (Melt different colours separately.)

Dip the top of each marshmallow into melted chocolate and then into a bowl of sprinkles or 100s and 1000s, or top with a pebble. Leave for the chocolate to set.

Fruit flower pots

 Fruit flower pots

  • watermelon
  • blueberries
  • green and red grapes
  • 10cm wooden skewers, sharp end
  • cut off
  • plastic short stemmed wine glasses
  • 4-5cm flower shape cutter

Cut the watermelon into 1.5cm wide slices and use a flower cutter to make shapes from the watermelon. Push a wooden skewer halfway into the flower between two of the petals.

Place a layer of blueberries in the bottom of each ‘glass’, top with a layer of green grapes then a layer of red grapes. Push the other end of the wooden skewer into the cup through the fruit towards the bottom.

Cut a green grape into four pieces lengthways and use two pieces to create the leaves either side of the wooden skewer. Cut a blueberry in half through the equator and attach to the middle of the flower. They will stick with just the juice
of the fruit.

Fairy bread - heart windows

Heart fairy bread

  • white sandwich bread
  • butter
  • 100s and 1000s
  • heart mini cookie cutter (ours was 2cm)
  • Butter two pieces of white bread and sprinkle one piece with 100s and 1000s.

Use a knife to mark two intersecting lines in the butter on the other piece of bread, as if you were going to cut the bread into quarters. In the middle of each of these quarters, cut a shape out with a mini cookie cutter. Reserve the cut out hearts.

Place the piece with cut outs on top of the sprinkled piece, cut off the crusts, and cut evenly into quarters.

Place sprinkles on a plate and press the reserved cut out hearts into them, butter side down. Serve these little hearts too.

Fairy bread - rolls

Rolled fairy bread

  • white sandwich bread
  • butter
  • 100s and 1000s

Butter pieces of white bread, trim the crusts and sprinkle with 100s and 1000s, leaving 1cm at one end without sprinkles (so it will stick together once rolled).

Roll up, starting at the sprinkled end and rolling towards the unsprinkled end.

Cut the roll into thirds or quarters.
