Summer mocktail essentials
Finding out you're pregnant means introducing some dietary and drink restrictions into your life, but that doesn't mean missing out this summer. Introducing your new BFF: SodaStream...
It's easy to feel left out if you're pregnant or breastfeeding when your friends and family are embracing the summer lifestyle, a drink in hand. But that doesn't mean you can't join in, it just means removing the alcohol. With SodaStream, you can make waves in the kitchen. Make your own mocktails that are flavoured the natural way, with a mix of fruit, veggies, herbs and spices. Not only do these ingredients pack colourful nutrition into your glass, they also ensure you are drinking more water and staying hydrated - super important when you're growing a little human.
The sparkling beverages are easy to make. Just pour in the water and pop the ingredients into a glass and let the natural movement of the bubbles do the work for you. Here are our favourite fruit and veggie combinations to make sure your mocktail is the envy of all others:
Watermelon and Mint
Watermelon is great because it's already 92% water, so it's super filling. It's also rich in vitamin C and lycopene. Vitamin C bolsters the immune system and strenghthens eye and cardiovascular health, while lycopene fights free radicals. It can also ease heartburn and help alleviate morning sickness. It's definitely a winner.
Frozen Blueberry and Lime
Not only one of our favourite fruits, blueberries are great during pregnancy. Rich in potassium and vitamin C, folic acids and antioxidants, berries are great to build your baby's immune system and healthy skin cells. Drink up, mammas!
Strawberry and Basil
It's strawberry season! It's a great time to add these delicious berries to your diet. They also make a great flavour combination for your sparkling water. The fruit is high in antioxidants and vitamin C and creates beautiful looking mocktails.
Lemon and Ginger
Lemon juice is great for relieving nausea associated with morning sickness, plus it has heaps of nutritonal benefits. Combined with ginger, also great for morning sickness, but it also aids the digestion process. When added into your SodaStream, it will be the envy of all alcohol-drinkers!
